Music Brings Us Back
Hello All,
It seems Fall is nearly here. I would be lying if I said I was done with summer. I’m not but I’m super grateful for spaciousness and quieter time for reflection it’s afforded me. I’ve been listening to music, prepping charts for my upcoming show, reading, rehearsing some, visiting friends and family, sitting outside and appreciating the trees and grass, going for impromptu bike rides with my husband, decluttering, receiving bio-dynamic resonance sessions from my good friend Sarah White-Ayon and trying to soak up the goodness of this season.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine late summer is ruled by the Earth element and it’s associated with the spleen and stomach organs which help us digest life as we transition into Fall. Yet moving into Fall often feels like there is a lot coming at everyone at once from new schedules to job changes and changes in weather which can make it easy to feel stressed, worried and or doubtful which are the exact emotions the spleen and stomach relate to.
There has also been a lot of heavy news from the recent passing of musical titans Cassandra Wilson and Dolly Parton amongst others as well as the ongoing wars around the globe. When I feel all the feels strongly, I remind myself to come back to music, back to my body and particularly back to my breath. That’s what it’s here for. The music brings us back to our humanity and our greater spiritual selves. So if you haven’t already, please make sure to mark your calendars to join me for
The Porch Sessions on Sunday, September 27 at 7pm at Shapeshifter Lab. Let’s come back to ourselves together. I’ll be sharing some new music that I’ve been working on the last couple years.
